This project is a testament to Gelandy's commitment to innovation and excellence in solid surface installations. By addressing the unique challenges posed by the project, we were able to deliver a solution that not only met the aesthetic and functional requirements but also ensured long-term durability and ease of maintenance. Our approach exemplifies the potential of solid surface materials in creating visually stunning and highly functional interior spaces, capable of withstanding environmental stresses and enhancing the overall user experience..

Challenges and Solutions:

The architectural marvel located in Guangzhou, China, presented a unique set of challenges that called for innovative design and installation techniques. The project, executed in July 2021, involved the installation of a solid surface background wall of impressive dimensions, measuring 21 meters by 7 meters.

Understanding the Challenges:

One of the primary challenges in this project was accommodating the physical properties of the solid surface material in response to environmental factors. Guangzhou is known for its hot summer weather, which could potentially lead to expansion and contraction of the wall material, resulting in deformation and cracking. To prevent this, careful consideration had to be given to the incorporation of expansion joints and the provision of adequate space for future maintenance and electrical wiring.

Innovative Solutions:

To address these issues, our team implemented a series of strategic solutions:

Sectional Division:The entire wall panel was divided into smaller sections. This approach minimized the need for seams within the patterned areas of the wall, thereby maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the design.

Strategic Gaps:Gaps were left on all sides of each section to accommodate expansion and contraction. This prevented stress accumulation within the material, reducing the risk of cracking.

Expansion Joints:Instead of joining all sections together, we left specific expansion joints in the middle of the wall. This allowed for natural movement of the material due to temperature fluctuations without compromising the structural integrity of the wall.
